Sateen Sheets
Sateen is a smooth and soft fabric, perfect for adding a touch of elegance to your bedroom. Contrary to what one might think, sateen is not a fiber but a textile structure, meaning a specific weave of warp and weft threads. For its high-quality sateen sheets, Piumini Danesi uses extra-long cotton fibers (called long-staple fibers) processed into durable fine 50/1 yarns, with a single 60x60 thread per square centimeter in both the warp and weft. The result is a silky fabric, delicate to the touch, and long-lasting.

Before Using Smooth Sateen Sheets
The dimensions indicated for our fabric products refer to their size after washing. Since our fabrics are made from natural fibers, we have accounted for their shrinkage. Our fabric items will reach their proper size only after 2-3 washes. Therefore, we always recommend washing our fabrics before using them.

Our Seamstresses and the Straight-Grain Tear
Just like in the past, our seamstresses "tear" the fabrics along the straight grain instead of cutting them, as is done in industrial production. This technique ensures a perfectly crafted duvet cover. The finishing touches, piping, appliqués, ajour, and embroidery make our creations elegantly simple and suitable for any style.
How to Wash Sateen Sheets
- Wash both white and colored sateen fabric at 40°C.
- Wash bed linen inside out to extend its lifespan. Instead of fabric softener, you can use white wine vinegar—an excellent natural and eco-friendly alternative.
- It enhances colors and makes sheets softer. A tumble dryer can be used on a gentle cycle, though air drying is preferable for both environmental reasons and as a traditional practice.
- If using eco-friendly detergents, follow the recommended dosage.
- Never use chlorine or detergents with optical brighteners on colored fabrics.
