We strive for the highest standards of aquatic animal welfare, environmental protection, and transparency in our goose down filling.
All our duvets and pillows are certified “cruelty-free” throughout the entire production process, i.e., from the egg to the final product, which is manufactured in both factories in Denmark and Hungary.
The plumage of aquatic animals has evolved over millions of years and is the best natural insulating product.
There is no good reason to let this precious animal-based insulation go to waste. The truth about the live plucking of aquatic birds is that it is not a common practice. Down and feathers are a by-product of the food industry. These birds, especially ducks, are raised for their meat, and the down and feathers are a secondary product.
Regarding Piumini Danesi:
The down and feathers coming from the factories in Denmark and Hungary come from animals roaming freely in the countryside,
and they live for a long time in order to grow large and soft goose down clusters, which we use for the filling of our pillows and duvets. This filling must, with only a few grams, ensure maximum insulation and durability over time.
Precisely because of their long life, these birds will mostly be used for food products, for example, smoked goose breast.
Thanks to the thermal and qualitative properties of down and feathers, several companies are involved in this farming process to guarantee our clients a responsible production and full compliance with environmental standards and transparency.
In fact, our factories are members of the EDFA (European Down and Feather Association), which for years has opposed the cruel practice of "Live Pluck." Thanks to mandatory traceability (EU Law CE 178/2002), also known as HACCP, and CE 1069/2009, all steps, from the egg to the adult animal, are controlled and documented by animal welfare organizations and veterinarians and are subjected to strict controls by the relevant European authorities.
EDFA and IDFL statement regarding live plucking:
All members of the European Association strictly condemn any live plucking.
